Borrowed Vehicle Missing Since August, Farmington Man Tells Police
The following information was supplied by the Farmington Public Safety Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.
A Farmington resident called police Jan. 26 to report that a van he purchased, then loaned back to the original owner in August, had not been returned.
According to the report, the man purchased the van from "a friend of a friend" in Farmington Hills. He was able to use the sale agreement to obtain a title for the vehicle. The man told police that he had not been able to locate the original owner, despite months of searching.
Drunken driving charged
A 26-year-old Farmington Hills man faces a charge of drunken driving, after an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle at Grand River and Smithfield around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 27, for having its bright lights activated.

According to the report, the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants as he spoke with the driver, who said he was dropping off a passenger at her sister's home. A preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol level was .25, which is more than three times the .08 legal limit, the report indicated. The passenger was not intoxicated.
