Cash, Electronics Stolen from Farmington Hills Homes

Police say that in one incident, more than $30,000 in jewelry and cash were taken.

Farmington Hills residents in homes on Bunker Hill and Valley Forge reported break-ins last week that may be connected.

According to police, officers responded to the Bunker Hill home's alarm on Friday at 6:20 p.m. While they found a window with screen damage and another broken in the rear of the home, it appeared that no one got inside.

Thieves were successful in entering the home on Valley Forge, where the homeowners left Friday evening and returned Saturday to find their home ransacked. Police said entry was gained by breaking a basement window. A K-9 team track led to, and ended at, a nearby street. Items taken included silver and golden jewelry valued at approximately $29,000 and $1,500 in cash.

In an unrelated incident, a homeowner in the 20000 block of Ontaga Avenue called police late Saturday night to report the theft of a television set and laptop computer. Police said a ladder had been propped up under the kitchen window, and the window had been tampered with.
