Charges against Tucker Robert Cipriano and Mitchell Jordan Young could amount to life in prison.

Tucker Robert Cipriano, 19, and Mitchell Young each face charges of five felony counts in connection with the , and the attack on his mother Rose and 17-year-old brother Salvatore.

The charges of first degree homicide and felony murder are punishable by life in prison. Two counts of assault with intent to murder and one count of armed robbery are punishable by life or any number of years. Since an assault with serious injury occurred during the armed robbery, the minimum sentence is two years.

As at least a dozen friends watched in the courtroom, Tucker Cipriano remained calm during this afternoon's video arraignment in in Farmington Hills, but Young broke down sobbing as Judge Marla Parker read the charges against him. Arms crossed against his chest, he rocked in his chair and occasionally laid his head down on the table as she spoke.

The two are accused of breaking into the Cipriano home Monday night and brutally attacking the three Cipriano family members. Salvatore Cipriano's twin brother Tanner and an 8-year-old sister, Isabella, were unharmed in the attack.

Parker ordered both men to not have contact with each other or with any member of the Cipriano family.

47th District Court Administrator David Walsh said the decision was made to do a video arraignment because this was a "highly charged, emotional case ... We thought it best not to transport the prisoners if we didn't have to."

Pre-exam conferences for both men are April 20, with preliminary examinations set for April 25.

This is a developing story.
