Public safety officers currently use the site, which daily shows the location of reported crimes.
Information on a daily crime mapping website Farmington Public Safety officers use will soon be available to the general public.
At a Thursday night Neighborhood Watch meeting, Commander Frank Demers said public access to crimemapping.com could be ready by the end of spring.
"It gives you an opportunity every day to see what's going on in your area," he said. "We as a department are using this now for crunching our numbers, and it's fantastic."

Crime reports are loaded each day, and the site produces a map with icons pinned to locations where crimes have occurred. Clicking on the pin produces a pop-up window that provides more details about each incident.
Canton, Dearborn, Livonia, Novi and Plymouth Township are among the 20 Michigan agencies that are sharing data on the site.
