Crime Report: Assault Alleged at a Soccer Game

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A 30-year-old Ann Arbor man refereeing a soccer game at Sunday afternoon told police a player he penalized punched him in the face.

According to the report, the referee told police he gave a "red card" penalty to a 37-year-old West Bloomfield man. Two other referees told police they witnessed the incident, and they provided written statements. The player was cited at the scene and released pending an investigation. The referee did not require medical treatment.

Thefts from vehicles

A 47-year-old Dearborn woman told police that someone threw a large rock through the window of her car and took her purse while the car was parked in a lot at Founders Sports Park Sunday. According to the report, the woman parked at around 11:45 a.m. and found the damage when she returned at 1:45 p.m.

On Monday morning, a resident on Lakeland told police someone smashed the rear window of her vehicle and took 100 CDs, a Detroit Tigers jersey, a laptop computer, $300 in cash, a pair of Coach sunglasses and cordless tools. According to the report, the vehicle was parked in the driveway.

A resident on Spring Lane told police that someone broke into his vehicle sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, while it was parked in a carport at Spring Valley Apartments. Two iPod chargers were taken, according to the report.

Impersonating an officer

A 65-year-old Farmington Hills man told police he has been receiving threatening phone calls from a man identifying himself as a police officer. According to the report, the caller identification on the Hills man's phone showed the calls came from the Farmington Hills Police Department's administration phone number. An officer explained "spoofing" technology, which allows someone to place a phone call and have another number show up on the caller identification display.

Breaking and entering

A 21-year-old Farmington Hills woman told police that she left her home on Watt Avenue at noon on Saturday and returned to find two television sets, a video gaming system and games and a laptop had been taken from her home. According to the report, she told police she had left the front door closed but not locked.

Aluminum theft

A representative of Vicount Industries on Hathaway told police that on Monday around 7:40 p.m. he spotted a green Chevy Silverado truck parked near a storage place for aluminum being used in an expansion of the business. According to the report, the truck left, carrying an unknown amount of aluminum. The man said they wouldn't know how much aluminum was taken until the building addition is complete.
