Employees Vanished with Office Supplies, Farmington Business Owner Says

The following arrest information was supplied by the Farmington Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The owner and an employee of a Farmington business contacted the Farmington Public Safety (FPS) Department Aug. 6, after five employees of the business, and about $2,280 in office supplies, disappeared.

According to the report, the employee who contacted police is the stepson of the business owner. He told police that he left work on Aug. 3 and returned Aug. 6 to find the other employees gone. The report indicated that it appeared one of the former employees set up a competing business. The stepson told police that the office supplies had been ordered and invoiced to his stepfather's business, but were nowhere to be found. In addition, the computer system had been locked and some client files were missing. The stepson also told police that his stepfather had loaned about $2,100 to one of the employees, after the man and his wife fell on hard times. The company owner has retained an attorney; information about the case was turned over to FPS detectives.
