Crime Report: Drug Arrests, Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Farmington

The following arrest information was supplied by the Farmington Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 28-year-old Wixom man faces charges of marijuana possession after an officer stopped his vehicle at M-5 and Halsted Road around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 15 for having an expired license plate.

According to the report, the officer who made the stop noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search uncovered a plastic bag of marijuana inside the center armrest console. The driver was also ticketed for expired vehicle registration and no proof of insurance.

Recovered stolen vehicle

An officer patrolling in the area of Grand River and Halsted early Nov. 14 spotted and stopped a vehicle that matched the description of one stolen out of Farmington Hills. According to the report, a 20-year-old Detroit woman who was driving the car said a family member had allowed her to use it. She was taken into custody and faces charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and driving without a license.

Woman faces drunken driving charge

A 35-year-old Chesterfield woman faces a charge of driving while intoxicated and having open containers of alcohol in her vehicle following a traffic stop around 1:10 a.m. Nov. 13 at Grand River and Farmington Road. According to the report, an officer spotted the vehicle traveling east on Grand River at a high rate of speed, without its headlights on and with the front and rear windshield wipers going, even though it wasn't raining. A portable breath test registered the driver's blood alcohol level at 0.15, which is more than the 0.08 legal limit. The report indicated that the officer also spotted two open bottles of beer inside the vehicle and empty bottles on the passenger side floorboard.

Driver faces child endangerment charge

A 32-year-old Novi man was arrested around 4:10 a.m. Nov. 12 after an officer pulled his vehicle over at Grand River and Halsted for speeding and displaying bright lights. According to the report, the man appeared intoxicated, and a portable breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.13, greater than the 0.08 legal limit. Because the man's 1-year-old and 2-year-old children were in the vehicle, he also faces a charge of child endangerment. The report indicated that the man's 29-year-old wife was a passenger, but she told police that she only had an instructional driving permit and had never driven.
