Crime Report: Drunk Driving and Prescription Fraud Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the Farmington Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 22-year-old Detroit man faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, after an officer made a traffic stop at Grand River and Shiawassee Tuesday at 2:09 a.m. According to the report, the officer stopped the man's vehicle for traveling 39 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. As the vehicle pulled to the right, it struck the curb. The driver's blood alcohol level, measured by a portable breath test, was .13, which is more than the state's .08 legal limit.

Littering

Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting littering on private property in the area of Shiawassee and Prospect on Monday around 11:15 a.m. According to the report, the person who called gave police a license number that traced back to a resident on Marblehead. Police spoke to the 26-year-old resident, who told police he would not toss cigarettes out of his car window again.

Tobacco ticket

A 17-year-old Livonia resident's cigarette was confiscated after police stopped a car in which he was a passenger, after it went through a red light at Grand River and Farmington Rd. on Sunday at 2:12 a.m. According to the report, the officer saw the passenger was smoking and issued a ticket to the minor for his use of tobacco. The driver received a verbal warning about running the red light.

Fraudulent prescription

Police arrested a 21-year-old Walled Lake man, after he had a prescription filled at the CVS Pharmacy on Farmington Rd. Sept. 29. According to the report, the pharmacist who filled the prescription for oxycodone asked the man for his driver's license. The prescription was in another man's name. When another pharmacist called to confirm the prescription was valid, the doctor's office contacted reported it was not. When police checked into the background of the man who picked up the prescription, they learned he had been arrested in August and faces charges of fraud and narcotics possession in Canton. The man was arrested, booked and released pending the filing of charges by the Oakland County prosecutor's office.
