Crime Report: Fake Lions Tickets Sold in Farmington

A 39-year-old South Lyon man contacted on Oct. 11 to report that two tickets he purchased in Farmington for a Detroit Lions football game were fraudulent.

According to the report, the man told authorities he arranged to pay $400 for the tickets through Craigslist.com and had agreed to meet the seller at clothing store in Farmington. However, when he got to the game, he was told the tickets were not valid. The man was able to give police the license plate number of the vehicle the ticket seller was driving.

Narcotics arrest

A 25-year-old Farmington Hills man faces charges of marijuana possession, driving on a revoked license and having an open container of alcohol in his car, following a traffic stop at Grand River and Maple at around 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 12. According to the report, an officer stopped the vehicle for traveling 60 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. In searching the vehicle, officers found a baggie of a substance later determined to be marijuana and a half-filled cup of alcohol. A background check showed the man's license had been revoked because he had two or more convictions for driving under the influence in seven years, according to the report. The driver was taken into custody and later released on bond.

Credit card fraud

Packages that arrived at the (DDA) office tipped staff there to several instances of credit card fraud. According to the report, a DDA staff person contacted police after two packages of shoes from an online retailer arrived at the office. Because they had not been ordered, the staff person checked and found several other fraudulent transactions. Farmington Public Safety detectives are investigating.

Vehicle theft

The owner of Dan's Tree and Landscaping, based in Southfield, reported the theft of a 1996 GMC tree trimming bucket truck, a white Ford F150 truck, an 18-foot Toma Trailer and Case skid steer that belong to the business. The equipment was taken from a parking lot on Nine Mile Rd. in Farmington sometime between Oct. 9, 11 a.m. and Oct. 11, 7:21 a.m. According to the report, everything was stored in a lot behind a building.

Shoplifting charged

A 49-year-old Farmington Hills man faces charges of shoplifting, after the loss prevention officer at T.J. Maxx called police to the store on the afternoon of Oct. 10. According to the report, the store officer told police that he saw the man take security sensors off of a shirt and bottle of cologne, valued at less than $100, hide them and then leave the store. The man, who uses a wheelchair, told the officer that he didn't have money to pay for the items, the report indicated. He was taken into custody, ticketed and released.
