Officers found a water bottle filled with what smelled like intoxicants and an open bottle of wine in the trunk of the man's vehicle, the report indicated. He was taken into custody and released to his wife after posting bond.

Auto thefts

A resident on Green Hill Road told police he parked his 2004 Ford Expedition under a carport around 2 a.m. Saturday and later than morning discovered someone had apparently tried to steal it. According to the report, the passenger side window had been broken to gain entry to the vehicle, and the plastic had been pulled from the steering column in an attempt to access the ignition. The vehicle was rolled out of the carport, and the owner told police he thought the security system had prevented it from being started.

Another Green Hills Road resident wasn't quite as fortunate. He woke Saturday morning to find his 2001 Dodge Ram pick-up had been stolen from a lot in front of his building.

Breaking and entering

A 17-year-old Farmington Hills resident caught near a vacant home on Locust early Monday evening told police that he was returning items he had taken from the home's garage on Sunday. According to the report, the teen said he and two friends discovered the garage was unlocked and took a painting and two sculptures from inside. He told police he showed his mother the painting, and she told him to take it back. Police contacted the teen's mother, who returned the sculptures as well.

A resident on Winterset Court told police someone broke in to the home on Friday afternoon and took three television sets, two laptop computers, two tablets and loose change. According to the report, the only sign of forced entry was on a bedroom door, which had been locked with a deadbolt. The break-in occurred sometime between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., the report indicated, and the homeowner identified possible suspects.

At around 7 p.m. Monday, a homeowner on Fendt reported that someone broke in and took two stainless steel sinks. According to the report, the homeowner told police the home is under construction. This is the second time in the past week and a half that someone broke a basement window to enter the home and damaged a Jaguar parked in the home's garage, the report indicated.

Counterfeit bills

A man called police late Monday night after being told a $20 bill he had been given at a gas station on Grand River was counterfeit. According to the report, the man told police he paid for gas earlier in the evening with a $100 bill and was given four $20 bills in change. When he stopped at another gas station to purchase some items, he was told the bill he had received was counterfeit. An employee of the first gas station told police the company would look at surveillance video to try to determine how the bill was passed.
