Crime Report: Man Attempts to Photograph Woman in Clothing Store Dressing Room

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A 30-year-old West Bloomfield woman told police she was in a changing room at a clothing store on Orchard Lake Rd. around 4:30 p.m. Monday, when she spotted a dark gray cell phone slide underneath the wall, camera side up. 

According to the report filed with , the woman had removed her shirt and pants to try on clothing when the incident occurred. She told police that she kicked at the phone and called out to the person in the adjacent room, but did not receive an answer. After dressing, she left the changing room and contacted a sales person. Surveillance cameras showed the suspect entering and leaving the store, but did not show his activity in the changing room. According to the report, the man in his 30s, about 5'8" tall, medium build, with short black and gray hair, dressed in a navy blue long-sleeved shirt and light blue jeans. 

Thefts from autos

The owners of vehicles parked on Rhonswood, Arbor Lane and McKinley reported thefts or break-ins between Sunday night and Monday morning. According to the report, items taken included tools, vehicle registrations and insurance certificates, sunglasses, a phone charger and a prescription for Adderall. The ignition of one vehicle was damaged, apparently in an attempt to steal it. One of the vehicle owners learned about the theft after Livonia Police called to report they had found the stolen items.

Narcotics arrests

A 32-year-old Farmington Hills man whose vehicle was stopped at Halsted and Nine Mile for having a defective license plate light early Tuesday morning faces charges of marijuana possession. According to the report, an officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana while talking with the driver, who eventually turned over a baggie of marijuana that had been concealed in his sock. 

A 24-year-old West Bloomfield Township woman faces charges of disorderly conduct and possessing narcotics paraphernalia, after police spotted her at a motel on Grand River late Monday night. According to the report, officers spotted the woman while patrolling motels on the west side of the city, due to increased reports of narcotics and prostitution. The report indicated that the woman, who appeared intoxicated, told officers she was a prostitute and had been left at the motel by a "john". A preliminary breath test showed her blood alcohol was .17, higher than the legal limit of .08. Officers reported seeing needle track marks on her hands, arms, feet and legs. Because of her condition, officers turned the woman over to her mother and advised her not to return to the motel, or she would be arrested for trespassing.

Three teens from St. Clair Shores, Novi and Farmington Hills face charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, after officers responded to a call about four people using drugs in a vehicle on Gladstone at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. According to the report, officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana as they spoke with three of the teens standing outside the vehicle. The three who were arrested identified the marijuana, a marijuana pipe and grinder found in the car as theirs. 

Stolen motorcycle

A resident on Freedom Road who was out of town for the weekend returned on Monday to find a motorcycle he had chained to a support beam of a carport had been stolen. According to the report, the chain holding the 2007 Suzuki GXR was cut. 

Breaking and entering

A resident on Lamar told police that sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, someone entered a garage on the property and removed the keys from two classic cars parked there. According to the report, nothing else was taken. 

Damage to property

On Monday afternoon, a representative of Farmington Public Schools reported that someone had spray-painted the side of the former Wooddale Elementary School property on Oak Forest Dr. According to the report, the black spray paint was also used to paint a picture of a cat on the sidewalk near the school's playground. 

At around 7:45 a.m. Saturday, a resident on Colgate reported someone had smashed the rear window of a 1991 Oldsmobile van parked at the residence. According to the report, nothing was taken from the vehicle.

A resident on Quaker Valley Rd. told police Saturday morning that someone had damaged a basement door at his home late Friday night. According to the report, the man heard a loud noise in the basement and found the damaged glass door and a rock laying on the floor. 

Sometime between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 a.m. Saturday, someone scratched obscenities into the hood, trunk lid and door of a vehicle parked on Cambridge Lane. According to the report, the vehicle's owner left it at the residence while he was out with friends that night.
