Crime Report: 'Peeping Tom' Reported on Albion St.

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A resident on Albion St. told that she saw a man looking into her window at around 9:30 p.m. Monday. According to the report, the man was described as being in his late 30s or early 40s and unshaven, with short dark hair shot through with gray. The man left when the woman spotted him, and a search of the area, with tracking by a K-9 team, proved unsuccessful. 

Narcotics paraphernalia arrest

A 21-year-old Mount Pleasant man faces charges of possessing narcotics paraphernalia after police found he was carrying a marijuana pipe during a traffic stop at Shiawassee and Tuck Roads around 9 p.m. Monday. According to the report, the man's vehicle was stopped because of an inoperative headlight. A search by Farmington Hills K-9 Argos located marijuana "shake" or residue in the vehicle. In addition to the narcotics-related charge, the man was ticketed for the inoperative headlight. 

Stolen vehicle 

A Westland man who left his vehicle in a Botsford Hospital parking lot early Sunday afternoon returned to find it missing. According to the report, the man parked his 2006 Ford SRW Super Duty truck in the lot while he was visiting a patient.

Drunk driving arrests

A 38-year-old Farmington Hills man faces charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, after he apparently crashed his car into the porch of a home on Rutledge Crossing around 1:20 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, the man spoke no English, and no one saw the accident. However, witnesses told police they saw his vehicle traveling at approximately 50 miles per hour on a nearby street before the accident. A portable breath test showed the driver's blood alcohol level was .12, more than the .08 legal limit.  

A 27-year-old Farmington Hills man faces a charge of drunk driving after his vehicle struck a tree at Muirwood and Verdant around 1 a.m. Saturday. According to the report, the driver told police he had been traveling north on Muirwood when he went off the road because he was traveling too fast. A portable breath test showed his blood alcohol level was .21, more than twice the .08 legal limit. The report indicated he was taken into custody and released after posting $200 bond.

Farmington Hills police responded to Skye Drive early Saturday morning, after a number of residents reported someone in a light-colored vehicle was driving over curbs and damaging mailboxes. According to the report, police found a truck with front-end damage, and a mailbox in the truck bed, parked on the street. The driver, a 20-year-old Macomb man, faces a charge of drunk driving after a portable breath test showed his blood alcohol level was .13, which is over the legal limit of .08. In all, mailboxes from nine residences were damaged, the report indicated. 

Solicitors ticketed

A 53-year-old Westland man and a 26-year-old Melvindale man were both ticketed after police responded Friday afternoon to a complaint about door-to-door solicitation on Middlebelt Rd. According to the report, the men told police they were working for Majic Windows and did not know they needed a permit. 

Breaking and Entering

A resident on Hancock told police that someone broke into her home some time between 11:10 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. on Friday and took a 27-inch flatscreen television set, an electronic tablet, laptop computer, jewelry and a safe, all valued at more than $9,000. According to the report, access was gained by breaking a glass panel next to the front door. 

While investigating a breaking and entering crime Thursday morning at an upholstery business on Shiawassee, police were approached by an employee of a car wash on Nine Mile Rd. who said someone attempted to break into that business as well. According to the report, two plastic windows on the rear door of the upholstery business were broken, and while the office area was ransacked, nothing was taken. At the car wash, the door frame and lock strike plate appeared to have been pried, but no one entered the business. 

Vagrancy

The maintenance supervisor at the U.S. Postal Service Annex on Indoplex called police after finding a tent set up in a wooded area on the complex's front lawn. According to the report, the tent was unoccupied, and police found clothing, personal articles, a space heater and sleeping gear, along with extension cords that were hooked up to a power source on the outside of the building. A medical card discovered in a bag inside the tent was registered to a 42-year-old man whose last residence was in Redford Township. The tent and belongings were taken to the Farmington Hills Police Dept.
