Crime Report: Tattooed Teen Faces Drug, Alcohol Charges

The following arrest information was supplied by the Farmington Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 16-year-old from Detroit faces charges of marijuana possession, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and underage drinking, after he was seen lying in front of a business on Grand River early Monday morning.

According to a report filed with , an officer found the teen inside the business, purchasing a snack. He appeared disheveled, with blood on his clothing and mud caking his shoes, and the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants. The report indicated that the teen told the officer he had been at a tattoo party. While he initially denied drinking, he later said he had consumed tequila to ease the pain of the tattoo.

The teen also removed a baggie of marijuana and cigarette rolling papers from his pocket, according to the report. A preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol was .115; under Michigan law, it is illegal for anyone under 21 to consume alcohol. The report noted the teen's father picked him up, and that the case was forwarded to juvenile court for review.

Drunken driving arrests

A 32-year-old Farmington man faces charges of drunken driving, driving with a suspended license and preliminary breath test refusal, following a traffic stop at Sherwood Ave. and Grand River late Monday night. According to the report, the man's vehicle was stopped for traveling 47 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone. The officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants, and while the man refused a preliminary breath test in the field, a test taken at the police station showed his blood alcohol level was .23, which is nearly three times the .08 legal limit. 

A 28-year-old Novi woman faces a charge of drunken driving after her vehicle was stopped at Grand River and Halsted for having an expired registration. According to the report, the woman told police she had no money to renew her registration, and the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants while speaking to her. A preliminary breath test showed her blood alcohol level was .10, more than the .08 legal limit. The driver, who was held pending payment of bond, told the officer she had recently taken the Michigan Bar exam, the report indicated

Found bike

Police picked up a light blue, Schwinn girls' bike with a pink basket from on April 5. According to the report, a representative from the school said the bike had been left in front of the building for a week. It is being stored by the Public Safety Department. 

Stolen vehicles

A Commerce Township man who keeps vehicles he is selling on a lot on Orchard Lake Rd. in Farmington told police that a 2003 gold Chevrolet Impala that had been test driven on April 1 went missing on April 2. According to the report, the owner said a man in his 30s offered to buy the vehicle after test driving it. The owner said he gave the man keys to start the vehicle, and one of them had been swapped out of the set during the test drive. 

A resident on Grand River told police she parked her vehicle in a lot on March 24 at 4 p.m. and found it missing when she went out at 6:30 a.m. on March 28. According to the report, the woman told police she had been sick and hadn't left her apartment during that time.
