Drunken driving arrests

A 45-year-old Canton man faces charges of drunken driving, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and driving with a suspended license after a citizen reported a possible impaired driver on M-5 late Thursday. According to the report, the motorist who called police saw the vehicle pull off onto the shoulder, then watched the driver get out and fall into the ditch, then crawl back into the vehicle. Police stopped the vehicle on the M-5/Grand River ramp, and a portable breath test showed the driver's blood-alcohol level was 0.22, nearly three times the 0.08 legal limit.

A traffic stop Dec. 27 at 12 Mile and Haggerty roads resulted in the arrest of two drivers, who now face charges of driving while intoxicated. According to the reports, an officer stopped a vehicle around 7:15 p.m. because it was being driven with no headlights or taillights. While talking with the driver, a 48-year-old Milford man, the officer detected an odor of intoxicants. The report indicated a portable breath test measured the man's blood-alcohol level at 0.15, more than the legal limit of 0.08.

As the officer was talking with the driver, a second driver, a 36-year-old Orchard Lake woman, pulled up to assist the first driver. A portable breath test showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.19, more than twice the legal limit. The report indicated both drivers were booked and eventually released on $200 bond.
