Crime Report: Vehicles Stolen in Farmington Hills

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

The owner of a grey 2000 Dodge Intrepid told  that the vehicle was stolen sometime after it was parked at a residence on Independence late Sunday night. According to the report, the vehicle has a missing passenger-side hubcap and a dent in the passenger door. 

The owner of 2003 Dodge Stratus also called police to report the vehicle had been stolen sometime after 10 a.m. Sunday. It was parked at a residence on Polo Club Drive. Police found no broken glass or drag marks in the areas were the cars were parked.

Drunken driving arrests

A 27-year-old Farmington Hills man faces a charge of drunken driving, after an officer on patrol stopped his vehicle for driving through a flashing red light on the west I-696 ramp at Orchard Lake Rd. According to the report, a preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol level was .15, nearly twice the .08 legal limit.

After stopping a 27-year-old Plymouth man at 13 Mile and Oak Point Drive for traveling 78 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone early Saturday morning, police discovered the man had been involved in an accident just moments earlier. According to the report, during the traffic stop, a dispatcher was providing information on a hit and run accident at 12 Mile and Drake. The description of the fleeing vehicle matched the vehicle stopped for speeding, the report indicated. No one was hurt in the accident. A preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol level was .121; the legal limit is .08. 

A 27-year-old Redford woman faces charges, after another driver alerted police early Sunday morning to someone driving erratically on Haggerty. According to the report, an officer spotted the driver weaving on the road and stopped her at Haggerty and Lancaster Dr. The woman told the officer she was headed home after drinking "an unknown amount of margaritas" since 10 p.m., the report said. A preliminary breath test showed the woman's blood alcohol level was .27, more than three times the legal limit.

A 32-year-old Dearborn woman faces drunken driving charges, following a traffic stop on I-696 and Middlebelt early Saturday morning. According to the report, an officer patrolling on I-696 saw the driver swerve over lane markers and onto the right shoulder. A preliminary breath test showed her blood alcohol level was .12, which is more than the .08 legal limit. 

Thefts from autos

A resident on Green Hill Road told police he parked and locked his vehicle in front of his residence at around 12:30 a.m. Monday and at 10:30 a.m. the same day, found the driver's side door open. According to the report, a Pioneer stereo system valued at $2,200 was taken. 

A resident on Briar Hill Drive told police someone broke into his work truck some time between Wednesday at 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, a GPS unit valued at around $30 was taken. The man told police the vehicle was parked in his driveway and is generally unlocked, because there's nothing of value in it. 

Narcotics arrests

A 19-year-old Detroit man faces charges of marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license, after an officer stopped his vehicle around 9:30 a.m. Monday at Grand River and Middlebelt, because of a defective brake light. According to the report, the man told the officer he had half a marijuana cigarette in the car's ashtray; the officer also found a baggie of loose marijuana hidden under the ashtray. A check of his record showed his license was suspended. 

A 36-year-old Farmington Hills woman faces a charge of marijuana possession, after an officer on patrol on Grand River east of Middlebelt late Friday night checked her vehicle's license plate and learned she had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. According to the report, a search of the vehicle turned up a baggie of marijuana in the woman's purse, which was on the passenger seat.
