Decorative Penguins Stabbed in West Bloomfield, Car Stolen in Novi

Crime reports from area police include thefts, home invasions and an open house party.

Area police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. 

West Bloomfield Patch

Decorative inflatable penguins in yard stabbed

West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond said that three decorative, inflatable penguins were stabbed and deflated overnight on Jan. 1. The penguins, each at more than seven feet tall, had been spreading Christmas cheer to a home on the 5500 block of Dover Ct. that night, according to Diamond. The penguins were valued at about $150 total, Diamond added. Police have no suspects.

Novi Patch

Car Stolen From Novi Best Buy Parking Lot

An employee of the Novi Best Buy in West Oaks reported that his car was stolen from the store's parking lot on Dec. 28, according to a Novi police report.

The employee said when he arrived at work, he put his car keys in the pocket of his coat, which he put in the unlocked employee break room at 6 p.m., the report said. At 9:30 p.m., he went to retrieve his coat so he could get shopping carts from the parking lot. While outside, he noticed that his keys were not in his pocket, the report said. He then noticed that his car, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was not in the lot, the report said.

Northville Patch

Northville Resident Cited for Hosting House Party, Giving Alcohol to Minors

A 51-year-old Northville resident was cited on Jan. 1 on charges of violating the city's open house/party ordinance and for furnishing alcohol to minors, according to a Northville police report.

Two Northville officers were dispatched to the house on Coldspring after the police received a 911 call at 3:30 a.m. by a young man. The dispatcher could not understand what the man was calling about, but said that he appeared to be vomiting while on the phone, the report said.

Plymouth-Canton Patch

Tires Reported Stolen at Blackwell Ford in Plymouth Township

Plymouth Township Police responded Jan. 7 to Blackwell Ford, 41001 Plymouth Road, for a report of tires taken from a vehicle, according to a police report. According to the report, a representative from the store told police that over the weekend, someone had removed two tires and accompanying wheels from a gray Ford Edge.

Bloomfield-Bloomfield Hills Patch

Police Respond to Multiple Bloomfield Twp. Home Invasions Wednesday

Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department responded to four home invasion reports Wednesday afternoon that appear to be related. Reports said officers were called to the 1000 Block of Hamilton Drive, the 5000 Block of Inkster Road, the 6000 Block of Colby Lane and the 1000 block of Alexander Drive during daytime hours.
