Detroit Man Faces Underage Drinking Charge After Farmington Traffic Stop

A 20-year-old man from Detroit faces a charge of underage drinking after an April 21 traffic stop at Shiawassee and Floral Streets in Farmington. 

According to the Farmington Public Safety report, the Detroit man was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at around 12:40 a.m. for having a broken headlight. While the driver, a 22-year-old Farmington resident, passed sobriety tests, a preliminary breath test showed the passenger's blood alcohol level was .06. Michigan law prohibits anyone under age 21 from drinking. 

Marijuana arrests

• A 27-year-old Farmington man faces a charge of marijuana possession, after his vehicle was stopped for rolling through a stop sign at Grand River and Lakeway on April 19. According to the report, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle; a search uncovered a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle's center console. 
• A 23-year-old Detroit man stopped April 18 at Farmington and Nine Mile Roads for not wearing a seat belt faces a charge of marijuana possession. According to the report, a check of the man's background showed a 2012 license suspension for a safety belt violation, along with arrest warrants from four cities for charges that include failure to appear in court, domestic assault, disorderly conduct and driving without insurance.
