Details are sketchy about the dispute, which resulted in the death of a 45-year-old Walled Lake resident.

Oakland County authorities expect to arraign a 28-year-old ex-Marine from Walled Lake on murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed his 45-year-old neighbor in a dispute over a dog Tuesday night.

“We’re looking at a homicide,” Walled lake Police Chief Paul Shakinas told the Detroit Free Press. “There was an altercation, and during the altercation, the 45-year-old was shot and was pronounced dead at Huron Valley Hospital a short time.”

Police aren’t saying much about how the encounter escalated to the point that shots were fired about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the victim’s home on Sigma in the vicinity of  West Maple and Pontiac Trail.
