Farmington/ Farmington Hills Optimists Honor Hills Officer of the Year

The club recognizes veteran Officer Scott Goosen for an act of bravery.

Officer Scott Goosen, a 16-year veteran of the , is the 2011 Farmington/Farmington Hills Optimist Club Police Officer of the Year. 

Goosen was honored at a May 9 breakfast at in downtown Farmington, for receiving a Merit Citation as a result of his involvement in disarming a person who had been brandishing a firearm.

During the recognition event, Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus said Goosen has been awarded 12 citations since he joined the Department. His record of recognition is extensive and includes two incidents similar to the one for which he was recognized.

“We’re very proud of Officer Goosen, and he is a tremendous asset to the Department,” Nebus said.
