Farmington Hills Crews Respond to Garage, Kitchen Fires

No one was injured during the incidents on Randall and Millbrook.

Farmington Hills firefighters battled two fires over the past 24 hours that damaged a garage on Randall and a kitchen on Millbrook.

Fire Chief Corey Bartsch said crews were called to a three-car, detached garage on Randall at around 7 p.m. Thursday, where a homeowner had been welding. The man was able to get some of his belongings out of the garage.

Bartsch said the fire had "progressed pretty far" by the time firetrucks arrived. "There was a lot of exposed lumber inside," he said. While some nearby trees caught fire, crews were able to contain the blaze so that neighboring homes were not damaged.

A smoke detector alerted residents on Millbrook to a kitchen fire at around 3:12 a.m. Friday, Bartsch said. The homeowners got their children safely out of the home and were able to extinguish most of the fire by the time crews arrived. Farmington Hills Police officers rescued the family's dog.
