Farmington Hills, Farmington, Livonia Businesses Report Break-Ins Tuesday

In Farmington Hills, cash and cigarettes are taken from a gas station and a convenience store.

Alarms went off at two Farmington Hills businesses early Tuesday morning, after their front doors were smashed open. 

According to reports, businesses at Grand River and Drake in Farmington and Newburgh and Five Mile Road in Livonia also reported break-ins. 

The reports indicated that Farmington Hills officers responded to alarms at a convenience store on Farmington Road north of Eight Mile, and a gas station at Middlebelt and Grand River, between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.

At the store, police found a pack of Newport cigarettes near the front door, and the business owner confirmed an unknown number of Newport packs were stolen, according to the report. A video surveillance camera caught what happened at the gas station, where $300 in cash was taken.

The suspect seen in the video is described in the report as a man, 25-30 years of age, approximately 5'10", wearing a black leather coat and face mask and carrying a large hammer he used to break the front door glass and pry open a register.
