Farmington Hills Fire Dept. Investigates House Fires

Separate fires damage homes on Brandon and Parker.

The is investigating two fires that heavily damaged homes on Brandon and Parker last week.

According to Assistant Chief Kevin Bersche, firefighters were called to a home on Brandon at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 28. Stations 3 and 5 responded, but Station 1 was called in because the fire was so extensive. In all, 31 firefighters were on the scene.

Crews found flames venting through the roof and worked for several hours to fully extinguish all of the hot spots, Bersche said, adding the home will probably be a total loss. There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.

Three days later, firefighters called to a home on Parker at 6:40 a.m. found the living room fully engulfed in flames. Bersche said neighbors had not seen the family leave the house, so crews began a search effort and learned the family was not at home at the time of the fire.

Three stations, including 21 firefighters, responded to the scene; no one was injured. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
