A 23-year-old Farmington Hills man was arrested on assault and battery charges after he admitted assaulting a teen whom he believe was trying to hurt a duck.
Troy Police officers responded to a Troy fast-food restaurant Thursday evening after receiving reports of an assault in progress. Officers spoke with both men involved in the fight.
A 17-year-old from Troy told police he threw a cup at a duck outside the restaurant. According to a Troy Police media release, the teen then said the suspect yelled at him. After the teen yelled back, he told police the man approached him and hit him in the head several times.
According to the press release, the suspect told police he saw the teen throw a cup and try to kick the duck, so he told the teen to leave the bird alone. He said the teen swore at him and taunted him. The man admitted to police that he got out of his car and hit the teen, and when the teen continued to taunt him, he hit him again.
