Farmington Hills, Northville Women Seriously Injured in Wednesday Assaults

Farmington Hills Police ask for assistance from anyone who saw suspicious activity around Village Green Apartments, Green Hill Apartments or Founders Sports Park on Wednesday.

Farmington Hills and Northville City Police are investigating two brutal assaults on women that occurred within an 11-hour period on Wednesday.

According to a Farmington Hills Police press release, a 42-year-old resident of Village Green Condominium Complex, at Eight Mile and Grand River, suffered serious injuries when she was attacked at around 10:45 p.m., while inside the entrance to her building. Her assailant used a "club-type instrument", according to the release. The woman was treated at the scene by Farmington Hills Fire Dept. medics, then transported to an area hospital.

Farmington Hills Police Commander Matt Koehn said police have not been able to talk with the woman and so have few details about the crime. He also did not have information about the extent of her injuries.

Police are looking for a suspect described as a black male, approximately 35 years of age, 5’10’-6’2’ with a medium build wearing a beige jacket and blue jeans. The suspect vehicle is described as a light brown, late 1990’s model 4-door Ford Taurus.

Koehn said the Farmington Hills and Northville assaults may be related because "it's pretty unusual for somebody to be assaulted this seriously, and have two within a 24-hour period."

Northville woman attacked in her driveway

According to Northville Patch, a 69-year-old woman attacked in that community was approached by a man after returning to her home on Lake Street at around 11 a.m. Wednesday. A man carrying a burgundy portfolio approached her as she was walking down her driveway and asked her to take part in a survey.

The last thing the woman remembered was asking to see the man's identification; when she awoke, she managed to get into her home and call a friend who took her to Providence Park Hospital in Novi, according to the report. The woman suffered a fractured jaw and a severe head injury. She was admitted to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The woman’s purse was taken, which contained her cell phone, credit cards and identification. The cell phone has been recovered in a wooded area between Founders Sports Park and Green Hills Apartments, around Eight Mile and Halsted Roads in Farmington Hills, according to reports.

Northville police said the woman who was attacked described the vehicle as a light-colored, possibly tan, sedan; the man was described as a black male in his 30s, with a medium build, wearing a dark, three-quarter-length cloth coat.

Farmington Hills Police are asking for help from anyone who may have seen:
