Farmington Hills Police Find Pills, Marijuana in Vehicle Stopped for Speeding

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A 20-year-old Fowlerville man and a 19-year-old Howell man both faces charges of synthetic narcotics possession and marijuana possession after officers stopped their speeding vehicle on M-5 north of Drake at 4:40 a.m. Sunday.

According to the report, the driver initially said he was visiting his grandmother, but changed his story after police questioned why he would be visiting her at that hour of the day and with his friends. After noticing an odor of marijuana, the officer searched the vehicle and found more than 80 suspected Vicodin pills and four suspected Xanax pills wrapped in plastic and contained in pill bottles, as well as two bags of marijuana. In addition to the drug charges, the driver was ticketed for having no license plate light and for speeding.

A 20-year-old Orchard Lake man faces a charge of narcotics paraphernalia possession, after an officer watched him drive through the lot of a closed gas station to avoid a traffic light at W. 13 Mile and Farmington roads at around 1 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, the officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana while speaking with the driver, who said he had been smoking. A search of the vehicle turned up a marijuana pipe with residue in the vehicle's center console and a grinder under the driver's seat. In addition to the narcotics charge, the man was ticketed for driving through private property to avoid a traffic signal, the report indicated.
