Farmington Hills Police Investigate Daytime Break-Ins

Residents on Prestwick and S. Harwich report returning home Monday to find thieves had entered through the front door of their homes.

Farmington Hills Police issued Nixle.com alerts Monday, after responding to a break-in on Prestwick and an attempted break-in on S. Harwich.

According to a report, the resident on S. Harwich told police he received a call at 10 a.m., after an alarm on the home's garage door was tripped. The resident told police that because there were no other alarms tripped, he did not ask the alarm company to call police. However, when he arrived home, he found the door had been kicked a number of times.

While that home was not entered, the residents on Prestwick were not so fortunate. According to the report for that incident, about $5,000 worth of electronics, including flat screen TV sets, laptops and a desktop computer were taken sometime between 10 a.m. and 11:20 a.m.

The report indicated that brothers living in the home with their mother both left the house between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. One brother returned home at 11:20 a.m., found the front door open and the living room television set missing, and called police.

On Oct. 12, police responded to a break-in on Saratoga Circle that also involved the theft of electronics and a kicked door. According to the report, the homeowner left at 9:15 a.m. and returned at 6 p.m. to find the break-in. Three television sets, laptop computers and a Blackberry phone were taken.
