Farmington Hills Police Looking for Suspect in 'Smash and Grab' at Sam's Club

Police told reporters that three thieves hit the store at around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Farmington Hlils Police are investigating a bold "smash and grab" theft that occurred at Sam's Club on Northwestern Hwy. in Farmington Hills Sunday afternoon. 

According to a report in the The Detroit News, thieves broke into a glass counter at around 3 p.m., then escaped to a vehicle that was waiting for them. Farmington Hills Police Sgt. Greg Hughes told the newspaper that the thieves took some merchandise, but didn't specify what items were taken. 

WXYZ-TV reported that police are looking for three suspects who took off in a minivan and that similiar incidents have been reported in other communities. Authorities don't know whether the crimes are related, the report indicated.

Photos of the suspects were released on Monday, taken from surveillance footage in the store at the time of the theft.
