Farmington Hills Police Stop Man with Marijuana, Son in His Car

A 36-year-old West Bloomfield man faces charges of marijuana and narcotics equipment possession, after Farmington Hills Police on Nov. 20 stopped the Jaguar he was driving for equipment violations. 

According to the report, the vehicle's windows were tinted, and the rear axle was bent. The vehicle was traveling 35 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone on Orchard Lake Road, and struck the curb several times. The driver told the officer he was taking his 13-year-old son to his grandfather's home, where the driver also intended to leave the vehicle. The report indicated that the man told the officer he had some marijuana in the trunk; police found a scale and 11.2 grams of the drug in a glass jar. The son was turned over to his grandfather. In addition to the narcotics charges, the man was cited for the equipment violations. 

Narcotics paraphernalia possession

A 48-year-old Dearborn Heights woman faces a charge of possessing narcotics paraphernalia, after she was stopped late Monday night after driving into the Walgreen's parking lot at Grand River and Eight Mile, then pulling out onto St. Francis. According to the report, the driver told the officer that her son told her there was a crack pipe in the vehicle, which police found. She also told police that she had been arrested in Detroit for having a crack pipe, but that one wasn't hers, either. 

Drunken driving

A 21-year-old Warren man faces a charge of drunken driving, after police stopped his vehicle early Sunday morning at Orchard Lake Road and I-696. According to the report, an officer noticed the vehicle had a defective tail light and was swerving on the road. A preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol level as .119, which is more than the .08 legal limit. The vehicle was released to the man's sober passenger.
