The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

Two men face charges of possessing heroin and crack cocaine following a Jan. 9 traffic stop at Grand River and Haggerty in Farmington Hills.

According to a Farmington Hills Police report, after officers stopped a vehicle shortly before 11 p.m. because of a loud exhaust, the occupants began "frantically moving around inside of the vehicle". The passenger, a 42-year-old Saline man, told an officer, "He gave me heroin to stash, officer, he threw it in my lap and I was stashing it."

The driver, a 41-year-old Novi resident, had three suspensions on his license. The report indicated that both men repeatedly apologized while talking with police.

Breaking and entering

  • An employee of a gas station on Orchard Lake Road called police Monday morning to report the theft of $800 in cash and a cash box. According to the report, the employee said the front door was locked at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, and lower portion of the door glass was smashed the next morning. The report indicated the glass appeared to have been broken with a hammer and kicked; a hammer was also used to break a hole in the triple-paned glass office door to gain access. An alarm did not sound until police opened the front door, according to the report.
  • A resident in the 24000 block of Buchanan called police late Saturday night to report his apartment had been ransacked and a number of items stolen. According to the report, the man left home at 10:45 a.m. and discovered the break-in when he returned at 11:30 p.m. A video game, laptop computer, a safe, .45 caliber ammunition, a .22 caliber rifle, a Winchester 30/30 rifle and a battery jumper were taken.

A 21-year-old Farmington man faces charges, after police responded to the 37000 block of River Bend Drive at 3:13 a.m. Monday to investigate a report that someone had been driving a vehicle on the grass in a common area of the subdivision. According to the report, police saw two vehicles parked in a driveway, one of which was covered in grass and mud. When police spoke with the driver, he initially denied driving in the common area, but later told police he had been celebrating his 21st birthday, and thought it would be fun to get his father's car and drive through the commons area. The report indicated that a preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol level was .10, more than the .08 legal limit.
