UPDATED: Farmington Hills Resident Rescues Woman from Burning Home

A friend contacted The Oakland Press about Amy Conner's actions during a May fire.

Farmington Hills Fire Department Lt. Larry Gauthier said Thursday the department has not been able to substantiate whether a Farmington Hills woman rescued an elderly woman from a burning trailer, as reported Wednesday in The Oakland Press

Gauthier said none of the first-responding personnel and no one at the scene received any information about a person being rescued, although a cat was rescued by a firefighter. He said the department attempted to contact Conner through the reporter, but she has not come forward.

One of Conner's friends shared her identity with The Oakland Press, which ran a story this week.

The 42-year-old mother of three told the newspaper that she called 9-1-1 after spotting the fire, then entered the trailer on Tuck Road. There, she found an elderly woman who used a walker and was having difficulty getting out the door.

“When I got to the door, I just said, 'Forget the walker.' And I carried her across," Conner told the newspaper.
