Farmington Home Invasions Net Jewelry, Electronics

Farmington Public Safety officers investigate two home invasion incidents east and west of Gill Road and south of Grand River.

Farmington Public Safety issued a Nixle.com alert Tuesday warning residents about two recent home invasions in the area of Gill Road between Grand River and Alta Loma.

According to the alert, a homeowner in the 23300 block of Longacre Court, near Longacre Elementary School, called police Monday around 6:30 p.m., after arriving home to find the front door forced open. Jewelry and electronics were taken some time after 7 a.m., and the door had been secured with a deadbolt lock.

The alert also noted an April 12 home invasion occurred less than a mile away, in the 24000 block of Pickett Street, which is east of Gill and south of Grand River. In that incident, a rear door was forced open and a large amount of jewelry was taken.

Since thieves appear to be targeting homes during daylight hours, authorities urge residents to immediately report "any suspicious persons, vehicles or circumstances" in neighborhoods. For more information, call the department, 248-474-4700.
