Farmington Man May Face Charges After Drowning Prank
Scared girlfriend calls 911 and man resurfaces before dive team arrives.
A Farmington man is expected to face charges after police say he pretended to be drowning in a Commerce Township gravel pit where he was swimming with his girlfriend.
The girlfriend called 911 Monday after the boyfriend disappeared under the water about 7:30 p.m. near Sleeth Road and McAlpine Drive, according to a press release from the Oakland County Sherrif's Office (OCSO).
The OCSO Dive Team, Commerce Township Fire Department and Aviation Unit were called to the scene, but before the dive team arrived, the 46-year-old man resurfaced yelling, "Come in and get me!" at the rescue crews, according to the report. He came out of the pit after deputies ordered him to do so, the report said, and he told them he and his girlfriend had an argument and he was hiding from her.

Police say the man had been drinking and posted a blood alcohol level of .145 percent.
He is now jailed on recreational trespass charges. Police ticketed the 39-year-old woman for recreational tresspass and released.
