Farmington Public Safety Announces Arrest in Chatham Hills Thefts

The 21-year-old Taylor man was identified with assistance from the Southgate Police Department.

The  this morning announced the arrest of a 21-year-old Taylor man in connection with this week's 23 larcenies from automobiles in Chatham Hills subdivision, near Grand River and Halsted.

According to Public Safety Director Bob Schulz, the man is in custody in Southgate and faces charges of receiving and concealing stolen property in Wayne County. He will be charged with the local crimes probably no sooner than Monday, Schulz said, and Farmington Hills detectives are investigating whether he was also involved with thefts in that community.

FPS on Wednesday morning issued , which occurred sometime during the previous night. According to the alert, all vehicles that were attacked were unlocked, and items taken included purses, GPS systems, a laptop computer, golf clubs, a tent and loose change.

Schulz said the arrest came after Southgate police received information about stolen property that was verified by evidence police found in Farmington. 

"Detectives lifted latent prints from the attacked vehicles," he explained. "They were analyzed by the Oakland County crime lab and identified the same subject as was reportedly selling some of the stolen property in Southgate." 

According to a Nixle.com alert released this morning, a number of items of stolen property have been recovered, and investigators will contact victims to return their possessions.
