Two 20-year-old Novi women face alcohol-related charges after a Farmington Public Safety officer patrolling on Grand River stopped a speeding vehicle just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 12.
According to the report, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger told the officer they were waitresses at a Farmington Hills bar and had a few drinks after their shift ended. A preliminary breath test showed the driver's blood alcohol level was 0.12, which is more than the .08 legal limit. The test showed the passenger's blood alcohol level was 0.14; in Michigan, no one under 21 is allowed to have any alcohol.
An 18-year-old Farmington Hills resident faces marijuana possession charges following a Feb. 8 traffic stop at Farmington Road and Alta Loma. According to the report, the officer stopped the vehicle because the driver's side window was tinted, and a check of the registered owner's record showed a suspended license. The officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana, and while searching the vehicle, found a cigarillo wrapper containing a small plastic bag of marijuana. The driver did not have a driver's license, the report indicated.
