A 55-year-old Farmington resident suffered hip and leg injuries late Monday afternoon, when she was struck by a vehicle at a Farmington Hills business on Grand River.
According to the Farmington Hills Police report, the driver of a 2000 Camaro told police he was backing out of a parking spot when he realized he hit something. He told police he did not see the woman, who is deaf.
A witness described seeing the woman laying halfway under the vehicle and watching as the vehicle pulled forward, running back over her leg, the report indicated. The report did not indicate whether any charges were filed or the extent of the woman's injuries.
Thefts from vehicles
A Commerce Township woman called police Monday afternoon to report the theft of a catalytic converter from her 2004 Chevrolet van, while it was parked at a restaurant at 12 Mile and Middlebelt. According to the report, two other catalytic converter thefts were reported from vehicles parked at an apartment complex lot on 12 Mile.
Attempted vehicle thefts
Residents in the 30000 block of Timber Ridge Circle and the 28000 block of Grand River call police to report unsuccessful attempts to steal their vehicles. According to the reports, a resident on Timber Ridge Circle reported someone pried open the driver's side door lock, then pried the ignition mechanism from the steering column some time between Friday evening and Monday morning. The vehicle parked on Grand River suffered the same kind of damage, some time between 5:40 a.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, the reports indicated.
