Fast-Moving Thief Hits Chatham Hills Apartment in Farmington Home Invasion

Police are investigating a Wednesday break-in that happened while a resident was away from his home for 20 minutes.

In just minutes, a fast-moving thief took cash and other items Wednesday from a Chatham Hills apartment in Farmington.

According to a Nixle.com alert issued Thursday morning by Farmington Public Safety, officers responded to the apartment at around 3 p.m. The resident told police he left his apartment at 2:30 p.m. and returned 20 minutes later to find the door forced open. The door knob was locked but the deadbolt was left unlocked, the resident told police.

In the alert, Farmington Public Safety reminded residents to take extra precautions by securing their doors using all available locks and asked residents to immediately report any suspicious vehicles, people or situations.
