Ginopolis' BBQ Smokehouse Remains Closed Due to Fire

No injuries were reported. A reopening date hasn't yet been announced.

A Monday evening kitchen fire at Ginopolis' BBQ Smokehouse has caused the popular restaurant to close temporarily for repairs.

"We regret that a kitchen fire has caused us to close for a short time," the restaurant's website reads. "The good news is that no one was hurt. Please check back for reopening date."

Firefighters were called to the business at about 9:45 p.m. Monday on reports of a structure fire, Staff Lt. Larry Gauthier said. When firefighters arrived, he said, they noticed flames on the roof of the building.

The fire started in the kitchen's exhaust fan and was contained to that sole area, Gauthier said. It's been ruled as accidental, he said.
