Some nearby schools – including West Hills Middle School, Lone Pine and Model High School – were  placed on “secure mode” during the morning, but parents received an alert from police around 10 a.m. that the lockdown had been lifted and a normal school day could resume, according to The Oakland Press.

Other information, such as whether an arrest had been made or was expected, was not available. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Farmington Hills Police Department at (248) 871-2610.

The Detroit News reported that investigators wearing gloves were scouring the area and at one point, an officer held up a pair of sweatpants with blood stains down to the ankle on one leg.
