Medical Marijuana Plant Stolen, Farmington Hills Resident Tells Police

Farmington Hills Police are investigating the theft of a marijuana plant from a residence in the 21000 block of Rensselaer.

According to the report, the resident told police that he and his wife both have medical marijuana cards and he is a caregiver for two people. The couple had 32 marijuana plants, which are being grown in an attached garage. The report indicated that police found that intake and out-take valve covers had been removed, and it appeared the plant was taken by someone who reached in through one of the valves. The couple identified possible suspects. 

Mail theft

A company in the 33000 block of Eight Mile Rd. reported the theft of mail on Monday, Oct. 1. According to the report, the business normally receives a large amount of mail on Mondays, and the owner checked with the letter carrier when no mail was received. The letter carrier reported having delivered mail to that address. 

Thefts from vehicles

A resident in the 32000 block of Freedom Road reported the theft of a catalytic converter on Oct. 3. According to the report, the theft occurred while the vehicle was parked in a lot.

Several residents on Oxford told police someone broke into their vehicles overnight, between Saturday and Sunday. A phone charger, medical supplies, loose change and other items were taken. 

Breaking and entering

A resident in the 38000 block of Saratoga Circle called police Friday at around 6:30 p.m., after arriving home to find an attached garage door half open and the home's main entry door forced open. According to the report, approximately $11,000 worth of jewelry and electronics was taken. 

A resident in the 36000 block of Jefferson Ct. told police that sometime between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Monday, someone kicked in the door to his apartment and took jewelry, a passport and a camera from a bedroom closet. 

Minor in possession

A 20-year-old Brighton man faces a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol after police responded to the report of a fight at a gas station on Haggerty at around 1:24 a.m. Friday. According to the report, the Brighton man and a 23-year-old Howell man were "extremely intoxicated." A preliminary breath test showed the 20-year-old's blood alcohol level was .15; under Michigan law, it is illegal for anyone under 21 to drink. 

Marijuana possession

A 22-year-old Farmington Hills man faces charges of marijuana possession after police stopped his vehicle at Eight Mile and Inkster late Monday night, for having an inoperable brake light. According to the report, officers had spotted the man going into a home on St. Francis where police had previously arrested someone for selling marijuana. While an officer spoke to the driver, they saw a number of prescription bottles and a baggie in plain view. As he was being questioned, the driver admitted he purchased marijuana at the home he had just left. 

Impaired driving

A 53-year-old Livonia man faces a charge of driving under the influence of narcotics after an officer saw his vehicle weaving on I-696 west of Orchard Lake. According to the report, the man's vehicle nearly collided with a tractor-trailer and did not immediately stop after the officer activated lights and siren. The vehicle eventually pulled over at the M-5 ramp, and the driver told the officer he had taken oxycontin before getting behind the wheel, the report indicated. A check of his record showed three convictions of driving with a suspended license.
