Men Stopped in Home Depot Rental Truck Face Narcotics Charges

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A 45-year-old Hazel Park man and a 44-year-old Warren man both face charges of heroin possession, after the Home Depot rental truck they were driving was stopped Monday afternoon at Lynford and 11 Mile.

According to the report, an officer stopped the vehicle for having a broken brake light, and a check of the license plate showed the person who rented the vehicle had failed to return it. Police also found both the driver and the passenger had outstanding warrants.

The report indicated that the driver told police he'd been using the vehicle for his business over the past two weeks and thought he could keep it so long as Home Depot had his credit card information. A search of the vehicle turned up a small bottle containing suspected heroin, which the driver told police he snorted in order to help with his addiction to Vicodin, a prescription painkiller.
