Panhandling Woman Ticketed in Farmington Hills

The following information is provided by Farmington Hills Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Farmington Hills Police ticketed a woman found asking people for money Saturday afternoon in front of a business in Hunters Square shopping center on Orchard Lake Road at 14 Mile.

According to the report, an officer called to the business found the woman blocking traffic as she stood in the parking lot with her two small children. The officer noted that he had previously found her husband panhandling in the same spot, while she was working the shopping center across 14 Mile Road in West Bloomfield Township.

This time, the report indicated, the officer found the husband on the West Bloomfield side of the street, also with two children. After the officer gave the woman a ticket for disorderly conduct, she told him that she would now be forced to return to the store to panhandle, because she had received a ticket.
