Party Store Homicide Suspect Faces Six Felony Charges

Cassalle Leroy Nettles, who left a Michigan prison in 2011, was arraigned Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of Duraid Lossia.

A man who left a Michigan prison two years ago after serving time for armed robbery now faces six felony counts in connection with the Saturday shooting death of Tom's Party Store owner Duraid Lossia

According to a Farmington Hills Police Department press release, Cassalle Leroy Nettles, 43, was arraigned Tuesday in front of 47th District Court magistrate Dennis Pheney on felony murder, armed robbery and weapons charges. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

Lossia was found shot to death inside his store on Inkster Road, north of Eight Mile, early Saturday afternoon.

In a press release issued late Monday afternoon, Police Chief Chuck Nebus credited the "tireless and professional response" by Farmington Hills police and other agencies in Nettles' arrest. Physical evidence collected from the scene and surrounding area linked Nettles to the crime, the release noted.

Michigan Department of Corrections records show Nettles was sentenced in 1998 on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance. He was released in November of 2011.

Nettles, who remains in Oakland County Jail without bond, faces a pre-examination conference in front of 47th District Court Judge Marla Parker on Jan. 3; a preliminary examination has been scheduled on Jan. 10.
