Police Arrest Suspect in Party Store Homicide

Authorities say evidence found at the scene of the Saturday shooting in Farmington Hills links a 43-year-old Detroit man to the crime.

Farmington Hills Police aren't releasing many details yet, but they have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of party store owner Duraid Lossia.

Lossia was found shot to death inside Tom's Party Store on Inkster Road north of Eight Mile early Saturday afternoon.

In a press release issued late Monday afternoon, Police Chief Chuck Nebus credited the "tireless and professional response" by Farmington Hills police and other agencies in the arrest of a 43-year-old Detroit resident. The man will not be named until he is formally charged with the crime.

Physical evidence collected from the scene and surrounding area links the subject to the crime, the release noted, and "information updates are being provided to reassure the safety of the Lossia family and community."

A funeral service for Lossia, known to the community as "Dave", will be held Dec. 31, 9 a.m., at Mother of God Church, 25585 Berg Rd. in Southfield.
