Police Arrest Third Suspect in Farmington Hills Carjacking

Police have released another teen who was a passenger in the vehicle taken from a Dunkin' Donuts early Thursday morning.

Farmington Hills Police have arrested a third suspect in connection with an early morning robbery and carjacking at the Dunkin' Donuts in Farmington Hills Thursday.

According to a press release, detectives took the 16-year-old into custody at his Roseville home Thursday night. He is suspected of driving a getaway car, which was recovered in Detroit Thursday. The recovered car was taken during a car jacking in Detroit.

Police said Thursday that the victim, a 34-year-old woman, was sitting in her car at the restaurant when the incident occurred at 3:41 a.m. After being driven a short distance, she was able to escape. Her cell phone and purse were stolen.

Detectives found the victim’s car through GPS technology and arrested the 16-year-old and 17-year-old suspects at 10 a.m., in the area of the Lodge freeway service drive and Six Mile in Detroit. No one was injured during the robbery or arrests.

“One of the two suspects arrested yesterday was released from the Farmington Hills jail last night," Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus said.
"He was the 17-year-old passenger in the Farmington Hills victim’s carjacked vehicle. The 16-year-old driver of the carjacked vehicle remains in custody at Oakland County Children’s Village. He is believed to be the gunman who robbed and forced the carjack victim back into her car.”

Additional information is expected to be released today regarding charges filed against the two suspects who remain in custody.
