Police Investigate Burglary at Farmington Hills Market

responded in 60 seconds early this morning to a burglary alarm at Andy's Market on Middlebelt – but they were still too late to catch whoever broke in to the store. 

Police Chief Chuck Nebus said that officers arrived at Andy's Market around 6 a.m. to find someone had tossed a rock through the front door. An undetermined amount of petty cash was taken. 

The convenience store is one of several businesses hit by burglars over the past few weeks, in the area from 9 Mile Road to 10 Mile Road between Middlebelt and Orchard Lake Roads. to residents and business owners in that area nearly two weeks ago. 

While police have investigated several business break-ins over the past few weeks, Nebus said the department has not responded to a single home burglary in the city so far this week. In a Jan. 13 press release, Nebus said one person believed to be responsible for 10 home burglaries in the affected area had been arrested. 

"Our best guess is that it's someone living very close in the area," he said of the recent burglaries. 

While the department no longer has resources for specific crime prevention efforts, Nebus said, officers will get in touch with businesses to make them aware of the recent incidents.
