Police Investigate Thefts from Vehicles at Farmington Hills Park

Thieves smashed windows on parked cars at Founders Sports Park Monday evening.

Farmington Hills Police issued a Nixle.com alert Tuesday, following a string of vehicle break-ins Monday at Founders Sports Park on Eight Mile Road.

According to reports, car windows were smashed in the early evening hours. The incidents, reported at around 8:40 p.m., happened in the Farmington Hills Ice Arena and soccer field parking lots.

Thieves took items left in the open, including wallets, a purse, cash, a cell phone, credit cards and identification, the reports indicated. One vehicle owner told police that his credit card company told him the card had been used to purchase fuel in Farmington Hills at 7:50 p.m.

In the Nixle alert, the department's Crime Prevention Section warned residents to "remove all valuables from their cars, lock car doors, and park in well-lit areas when possible." Anyone with information is asked to call the department, 248-871-2610.
