Prosecutor Declines to Charge Second Suspect in Cora St. Burglary

The Oakland County prosecutor's office has declined to charge a second suspect in on Cora St. in Farmington Hills. 

Farmington Hills Police Cmdr. Matt Koehn said based on information submitted by police, who spoke with the unidentified man, "they do not feel there is enough evidence to charge him at this time."

, faces charges of armed robbery and home invasion, and two counts of possessing a firearm while committing a felony, in connection with the crime. 

According to a police report, a homeowner on Cora found Mays in her attached garage at around 2 p.m. Aug. 13. He pointed a handgun at her head, and after he motioned for her to be quiet, she shut and locked the door, then ran to another room and called 911. 

The report indicated that police responding to the incident confronted two men on Orchard Lake Rd., and the men ran into the subdivision on the east side of Orchard Lake, south of 10 Mile. Farmington Hills and  officers, assisted by an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, searched the area. 

While authorities took Mays into custody at that time, the second man escaped. At the time, Koehn said that police believed they knew the identity of the man and that he had left the area.
