Racial Slurs Painted in Novi House, Crash Shuts Down Lone Pine in Bloomfield

Area police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

Novi House Broken Into, Spray Painted with Racial Slurs

A woman reported that her house on Scarborough Lane was broken into and the interior was spray painted with Asian racial slurs at the end of November, according to a Novi police report.

The woman did not report the crime until 10 days later when she was prompted to do so by her insurance provider, the report said, so she is not sure the exact day the incident occurred. She told police she did not know she should report it.

Two Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Woodward

Officials with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety said a man already facing drunken driving charges for a previous incident is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol when he caused a wrong-way collision on Woodward Avenue Wednesday evening.

The 20-year-old Rochester Hills man, who was not identified in police reports, was hospitalized along with another driver with serious injuries, according to a statement prepared by Lt. Noel Clason. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening, and the man is not in custody while charges are pending.

Horse-head decorative fence damaged on Redding

A fence-full of decorative horse heads was decapitated sometime last week, Birmingham police report.

According to police reports, a resident on the 1800 block of Redding said a decorative fence in his front yard had been damaged. The fence consisted of 20 white poles topped with horse heads connected by chains, reports state.

At 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, police officers found several poles had been pulled out of the ground and thrown around the front yard, along with several horse heads and the chains. Approximately 15 of the 20 horse heads could not be found.

Canton Police Find Marijuana, Scale Disguised as Cell Phone

Canton Township Police were on patrol Nov. 30 at Palmer and Lilley when they stopped a vehicle traveling westbound with a burned-out driver’s side headlight, according to a police report.

When police made contact with the driver, an officer smelled what he believed to be marijuana, the report said, and saw a plate in the back seat with what appeared to be marijuana residue. When police searched the vehicle, an officer recovered what appeared to be a cell phone, the report said. However, the item actually was a scale with a false cover designed to look like a cell phone.
