Stolen Phone in Farmington Hills? Police Use an App for That

A Farmington Hills Police officer used an app on his smart phone Monday to help track a stolen iPhone.

According to the report, a woman at a bar on Eight Mile Road told police she went outside to smoke a cigarette and realized that she left her phone inside. When she returned, the phone was gone.

The woman was able to track the phone through an iPad app, but eventually lost service. The officer who responded was able to pick up the iPhone's trail on his phone and continued tracking it west of the bar. The report did not indicate whether the phone was recovered.
