Substitute Teacher Sentenced for Drinking at Dunckel Middle School

Patricia Ann Mazurkiewicz, 59, faced charges of having alcohol on school grounds and disorderly conduct.

A substitute teacher caught under the influence of alcohol by students at Dunckel Middle School in November was sentenced Monday in 47th District Court

Patricia Ann Mazurkiewicz, 59, had been contracted through Professional Educational Services Group (PESG) to fill in for a social studies teacher at the Farmington Hills school, according to multiple media reports. Students alerted school officials that she was "behaving erratically", WXYZ-TV reported.

Mazurkiewicz told WDIV-TV that she made "an error in judgment". Misdemeanor charges included possession of alcohol on school grounds and disorderly conduct.

Among other consequences, District Court Judge Jim Brady sentenced Mazurkiewicz to a year's probation and community service.
